Established in 1995, the Heritage Centre was created from a 17th century Tithe Barn which had been derelict for a number of years. There are some magnificent roof timbers, and the exhibition which has been mounted inside the building in no way intrudes on this Outside view of Pilgrims internal architecture. The old 15th century wooden bell frame which was removed from the Cathedral tower in 1994 has been re-erected and life size copy bells inserted. The exhibition itself tells the story of the Priory since its foundation by Bernard de Neufmarche in 1093. There are videos and audios illustrating various aspects of Cathedral life and history. It is well worth a visit and entrance is free, although donations are happily received.
