John Eyre was self-taught until he was seventeen. Then he studied guitar with Robin Pearson from 1978 to 1981. He began his academic adventure at Clarendon College in Nottingham and continued at Hull University. He has been studying guitar and harmony ever since, and continues to write and record songs and instrumentals.
“The programme dips into guitar music from various centuries. I have avoided putting the audience through the agony of watching me struggle through the more challenging concert pieces; the repertoire is so vast that there is music of great beauty to be found without having too many technical mountains to climb. The highest peaks are of course, musical ones, interpretation and feel being two of the greatest. If the music moves you at any moment, then the concert was a success!”
